How to make an indirect speech?

Ada beberapa cara membuat indirect speech

1.    Jika reporting verb berbentuk present atau future tense maka reported speech-nya tidak  boleh mengalami perubahan.

Contoh: Agung says that he is late.

2.    Jika reporting verb berbentuk past tense maka reported speech-nya telah mengalami perubahan sebagaimana mestinya (past tense).

a.     Reporting verb berbentuk past tense dan reported verb berupa present tense.

Contoh: Suci said that she was tired.

b.     Reporting verb berbentuk past tense dan reported verb berupa present countinous tense.

Contoh: My mother said that she was going to Yogyakarta.

c.     Reporting verb berbantuk past tense dan reported verb berupa present  perfect tense.

Contoh: The trader said that he had gone.

d.     Reporting verb berbentuk past tense dan reported verb berupa present perfect countinous tense.

Contoh: The traider said that he had been going to Canada.

e.     Reporting verb berbetuk pas tense dan reported verb berupa past tense. Dalam bentuk indirect speech-nya berubah menjadi bentuk past perfect tense.

Contoh: My uncle said that he had watched TV.

f.      Reporting verb berbentuk past tense dan reported verb berupa past countinous tense.

Contoh; My uncle said that he had been drinking.

3.    Request

Kata yang digunakan, seperti asked

Contoh: Dessy asked her friend to lend her book.

4.    Prohabition

Kata yang digunakan, seperti forbade

Contoh:  Andi forbade his friend to go to school.
